| Hey guys, How's it going? My name is Jenifer and I just turned 21. I am not much much of a wine drinker, but i thought it would be fun and interesting to try new things and learn more about the different types, and which goes with the best meals. Hope You guys can offer some great advice. Hope to hear from you all soon | | |

| | Welcome to the forums Jenifer, I hope you stick around and participate. There is much to learn, and this is a great place to start. What are your wine interests so far? | | | 2008: the end of an error | |

| Jen- Hang out for a while in here and the masters will speak. It is an amazing lesson in vino 101. but you must be serious. This is not a playground.
These people can be serious and somtimes, unkind. Watch ur wds. Mostly very informative. But, st. B crfl. I'm your age, and many times the sudden assault outrules justifiying our learning curve.

| Jen, I hope you hang around. Â
I've read too much spam over the years. When I started reading your post I expected a link to a website of pictures.Â

I would tend to disagree. I started on these boards about a year or so past the age that you two are. These boards were the springboard for my knowledge and passion. You need to use the boards as you see fit, whether it be occasional advice or daily interaction.
There is a wealth of knowledge here, and the people that you may find "too serious" are in most cases the ones that also will be the first to answer your questions. People that I used to think were dicks(in my first year or so) are to me the integral people that I would hate to live without and I would love to share a bottle with. No matter how confrontational they may seem to others, there personal opinions (which on wine boards a lot of people seem to lack sometimes) are against the status quo, yet right on most of the time.
I would personally never be where I am now without these boards and the immensely generous people on it.
Don't be discouraged, just don't pretend you know everything or have experience past your age and you will be fine. If you truly want to learn these are great places too.

| Well, you are probably right. Aloha. But I hoping to explain to jenifer is that the posts  that include a pissing match between Dave and Daniel tht  are in the Kb/Piont thread is not what vc is about. that's all. Leave it to me to screw up the mes'ge.

| | In that message you are correct. I used to be in many pissing matches with people here long ago, I can't imagine this site without those same people I used to disagree with. | | | |

| | Jennifer -- the best way to use the boards is to read what people have to say, but more importantly, attend offlines. Winos are very generous at offlines; you will commonly taste wines that you would never be able to get any other way. Alohaj is the Master master of offlines and tasting groups; he is an excellent resource. | | | |

| Welcome. This is indeed a great place to learn about wine(s), and other things, too. Enjoy your journey.

| | Hi Jennifer, welcome! I second RandyW's suggestion about attending off-lines. Reading about wine is great, but drinking it is even better. I learn a lot from reading these boards. You'll find a lot of good information by using the Search function. | | | |

| | Umm, you'll learn more using the search function on any OTHER site. The search here is not the strong point. | | | |
