In the International Wine Cellar (Tanzer's mag) Josh Raynolds and a few other people did an interesting tasting of 01/02 Red Burgundies. Although not an uber-scientific tasting it is very interesting to see them check in on these wines.
Check it out if you have the sub at http://www.wineaccess.com/expert/tanzer/article.html?content_id=46561 .
It is subscription-only as the IWC is trying to add in additional tasting notes other than the issues to help add some value to the publication. Raynolds notes that his group came in with a "decided preference for the 2001s, believing that they would be more "Burgundian" than their larger-scaled 2002 brethren. However, most of us came away pleasantly surprised over how the 2002s are developing along "classic" lines: they show plenty of sweet fruit, but also they also possess impressive balance and complex soil and floral tones to counter their riper qualities."
The 2001 Domaine Hudelot Noellat Romanee Saint-Vivant was the highest rated wine at 95 points.
