May as well keep this thread updated with the madness. I did this once with futures for '86 Bordeaux. I don't regret the purchases, but I've never had a single bottle either (still hoping that they will be ready to drink someday). At some point I intend to buy 2005 village burgs so that I can get out of this delayed gratification business.

2005 Domaine Jean-Marc Pavelot Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru (ditto)
2005 Domaine Jean-Marc Pavelot Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru

2005 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru

2005 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Romanée St. Vivant

I didn't bite on the Pavelots but couldn't resist picking up some village-level Lignier-Michelots:

2005 Lignier-Michelot Morey St Denis VV
2005 Lignier-Michelot Gevrey Chambertin

It's nice to see Burghound found numerous village-level wines worthy of scores usually reserved for premier cru wines. Also, the '05 L-M Faconnieres looks like a definite buy and I'll likely grab some when a local retailer offers them a little later this year.

Took a look today at prices and what was available from the usual suspects. 05 Clos de Tart sold out through Premier Cru and McArthurs. Zachys is offering it at $300. Obviously pricing is really getting out of hand. If it weren't for all these %^&*() California mailers I'd be buying up the half bottles of 2005 Lambrays for $50.

Blair, I saw those wines - do you know what the style is like for that producer? I might pick up some village Volnays...

I imagine he's taking a gamble based on Meadow's positive comments on the 2004s - a gamble I'll likely make myself.

You got me. I broke one of my (unwritten) rules about specifically NOT buying a wine that I have not tasted. However, Burghound's notes on the 2004s indicate that they are delicious wines at a good value. With BH scores in the 88-91 range and prices under $30 or so, I'm a buyer so long as the tasting notes mirror other wines I've tried and liked...

The 2005s were all under $30 each (except the Pommard 1er Cru). This coupled with the likelihood of me NOT going deep on Grand Crus this vintage pointed me toward the value end of the curve....

I've had this wine:

2005 Olivier Leflaive, Bourgogne Les Sétilles - $15.99

and would buy more by the case as a daily drinker. I've probably also tasted most of the pieces to the 2005 Olivier Leflaive Corton Charlemagne and it was pretty tasty. The 2005 Potels are supposed to be pretty good but I've not had any. The others I'm not sure about.

Domaine is one of the top producers. Exceedingly rare. I would go for that one. [warning- I am a Burgundy novice]

Which "domaine"? Olivier LeFlaive makes about 200K cases/year. His sister who owns Domaine LeFlaive makes far less (and some of her wines are considered among the top in Burgundy).

I was finally worn down by the postive posts on eBob and the Burghound reviews.

4 x 2005 Domaine D'Ardhuy Corton-Renardes
4 x 2005 Domaine D'Ardhuy Clos Vougeot
4 x 2005 Domaine D'Ardhuy Corton-Clos du Roi

Like buying 2002 Fevre (I hope!).

About 2015 he will be the best kind of buddy. I wonder what the aging curve will be for the 05s from village to GC.
