I apologize if this thread has already been done. I'm not sure.

We're going to start with a Ramey Russian River chard 00.
For those who have to have red, a bottle of Paringa Shiraz 01.
In reserve, Beringer Private Res Chard 99.

That's Thursday with friends.
For Friday with the family...

Start with a Kistler Dutton Ranch chard 00.
For red lovers, a bottle of Torbreck 'The Steading' GSM 99.
In reserve, Lewis Sonoma chard 00.

How about you??

To start Gosset Rose, then with the turkey a choice of Martinelli Gewurtraminer, Etude Pinot Gris or Rochioli Pinot Noir.

Whites:

  • 1997 Rutz Chard (my family claims they like heavily oaked Chard, so it's a chance to get rid of it)
  • 1999 David Arthur Reserve Chard (again, too much wood for my taste)
  • 2000 Kalinda Reserve Chard (nice, made by Lewis for K&L)
  • 2001 Mt. Eden West Slope (the finest sub $10 Chard. I've had in years)

Reds:

  • 1989 Thomas Coyne Zin (recent $9 purchase, outstanding aged Zin)
  • 1996 Rosenblum Zin, Cullinane Vineyard 20th Anniversary bottling
  • 1997 Ballentine Napa Zin (an outstanding Trader Joes value @$6)
  • 2000 Howell Mountain Old Vines Zin (an all time favorite of mine)

97 Kistler VH chard
97 Kistler Dutton chard
94 Flowers CMR pinot
95 Kistler cuvee pinot
And whatever else my brother opens
all chards and pinots. Maybe a Turley
Juveniles Zin while I am deep frying the
turkey.

winebrat,
If I were in your neighborhood, I'd be begging for an invitation.
Sounds fantastic!
With all those Kistlers, you may find JB knocking on your front door tomorrow.

Nothing special,

The only thing that I hate worse then bad wine is unappreciated good wine. The Family is full of non-wine drinkers. Anything that tops a Bartle's and James wine cooler is impressive to them. I went out and bought a bottle of Ch Ste Michelle Riesling, a Guigal CdR, a King Estate Pinot Noir, and a bottle of Osbourn Tawny Port. I'll end up opening a Columbia Crest Chardonay GE and maybe a Vitiano. All and all It costs me less then $40 everybody will be happy and I can drink all of these wines without batting an eye.

TCK - maybe I'll just have a beer.

I'm in the same boat as many of you: dinner with folks who are a bit middle ground when it comes to wine. We grew up in the bay area and my mother loves wine, but alas, she was subject to that mid-70's "more oz in big bottle = great deal" mentality. Still, I love giving my family a nice glass when we're together.

In no particular order, I plan to get to the following...

1999 Northstar Merlot
2000 Chateau Ste. Michelle, Horse Heaven Sauvignon Blanc
1999 Cayuse Syrah (haven't decided which one..)
1999 Steele Pinot Noir
2000 Charbonniere Vacqueyras

21yr Springbank

I will make my wife a very large (pint glass) Cosmopolitian after my family leaves, she will have deserved it!

Have a good one everyone!

I haven't decided what to have with the prime rib roast but I'm opening a Chambers Rutherglen Muscadelle with the pecan pie.

MMM, MMM good!

Here is a list of what we are taking to my in-laws:
  • 2000 Sterling Viognier
  • 2001 Cedarville Vineyards Viognier
  • 2001 Caymus Conundrum
  • 2000 Bogle Old Vines Zinfandel
  • 2000 Justin Cabernet Sauvignon

They have some wine they are pouring as well:
  • Villa Toscano Zinfandel
  • Marietta Zinfandel

I am unsure if these are old vine or from a certain vineyard, but I will post TN's on all the wines we share at dinner today.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and many, many blessings.

One down....one to go. So far it's been the 2000 Kistler McCrea Vineyard Chardonnay.

Next? Very good question...

#2 of the evening was the 2000 Brewer-Clifton Santa Maria Hills Pinot Noir. Finished with an R.L. Buller & Sons Fine Muscat (goes perfectly with Pumpkin Pie by the way!).

Nothing too special. A few wine novices coming over.
'00 Neyers Carneros chard
'95 Talbot Sleepy Hollow chard (hope it's still alive)
'00 Argyle Nuthouse pinot
'98 Neyers Hudson syrah
I have a couple back ups just in case "they" drink too much.

I think the '02 is still sitting in barrel right now. You must mean the '01, right?

Jones, would love to see the TN's on the Cuvee Cathleen.
