Wine fiend (friend) in Atlanta told me about this bottling; $11, high points, I've never seen it. Anyone seen/heard about/tasted this wine and care to share?

Yeah, it's made down in Ripon at Rivercrest Vineyards. Beautiful winery.

Ron McManus owns the vineyards, winery, etc.

The winemaker there is Jeff Runquist, which is a name familiar to many here.

I haven't had the McManus wines in a very long time, but I believe the fruit is from that Ripon area, which is north of Modesto south of Lodi.

I have had the McManus Merlot and I am pretty sure that I have had the McManus Cab. These are very good QPR wines ($12) that typically rate in the mid to high eighties, depending on the vintage. Usually, they are fruit-bombs, exhibiting fairly smooth tannins.

I have also had the McManus 2nd label--River Heights. The merlot is better than the cab. These are even fruitier and less tannic and are great party wines at $7-$8. The 2001 River Heights Merlot would have rated about 85 points, in my opinion.

It is actually spelled McManis. I picked up a bottle of the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon today based on this thread and VV's recommendation. I believe (if memory serves) I tried this wine at this year's California State Fair and found it to be quite enjoyable. I will look through my past notes and see if I can find anything on it.

Stay tuned...

VV: I guess you didn't. For some reason I had it my mind that you had posted a note in there about the wine. Now that I re-read it, it says "Beautiful Winery". I missed the 'ry'. My bad. Unless you can make a recommendation now?

This is my first post on the new board.

It is nice to see some old names on the board.

I have heard of this wine also, but never tried it.

I hope you all have a great T-Giving.

I don't know if I've ever had it.

Runquist, I can certainly recommend.

I am familiar with Runquist. What is your favorite of his label?
