Option #2 "Wine is Great. You Do the Research, I'll Help You Drink," is exactly how it works with us and, I suspect, many others on this board.

I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.

#2 Exactly. She loves good wine and never asks what I spend.

Unfortunately, mine does ask what I spend. On the other hand, she thinks the Krug is worth the cost...

My wife is very supportive, but sometimes I do spend too much time and money on wine.

Mine falls into the last category, unfortunately, although she does drink wine occasionally. Still thinks it's crazy to spend the money I do on wine.

I went with #2, but more accurate would be a modified #2 with "how much did you spend?" added on. I just try to buy a lot of old wine so I can say I have had it since before we were married. I guess this will get harder as the years go by.

I went with number 2 even though I don't think it quite fits my situation. I have a rather unique wine relationship with PURPLE.

My wife enjoys wine and is willing to express a comment or two about why she does or doesn't enjoy a particular bottle, but doesn't want to participate when it comes to lengthy geekspeak. She sees it as unnecessarily analytical.

This is a far better situation for me than it used to be, due largely to the fact that she has enjoyed meeting so many great people at offlines in the last few years. Her interest and enthusiasm increased markedly once she recognized the quality of the folks I spend time with online.

I know that all of you will keep working on her when you meet her.

My wife complains about all the money spent but if you pour her a mediocre bottle of wine then its time to take cover.

You forgot the option "Significant other - I used to have one but it was her or the wine and the wine won"

#2 - My husband is more than supportive these days. He's a enabler especially when it comes to "traveling for wine", ie offlines.
