Holy Crap! I didn't realize the tasting note buddy even existed. Who are all of these people listing me?

If I create “favorite tasters,” does this list remove the notes of others?

While another neat feature, I find I enjoy most peoples opinions (to varying degrees) and prefer to use the “Ignore” feature for those precious few.

Now, if we could only get Eric to allow access to the Hall of Shame list (those most “Ignored”).

I'm not sure how the Taste Buddy really works. If I flag some people how do I then use it? The only noticable difference I can see is that when I look at the tasting notes for a wine my Tasting Buddies have a little ICON next to their notes. That's about it.

You can also go in and look at all of the notes your buddies have made. For example, I added Winetex, reviewed her notes and came to the quick realization that she drinks A LOT :-P

Very cool feature - I like how I can see what posters that I used to follow (who no longer post on VC, like otisabdul) are tasting these days.

The ignore user feature is very handy too - some really inane tasters on CT!

I'm relatively new to Cellar Tracker and I love it, although I would agree that some of the TNs are rather inane.

This reminds me of one of my favorite Wino Depot threads, "Moronic Tasting Note".  Pretty funny stuff...

Here is an interesting one on a 2002 Burgundy:

"Tasted by XXX on 9/1/2006: Pre dinner drink with the wife and Rica.

Nose of sweet cherries reflected on the palate. Good balance. I asked Rica what she smelled and she replied, "It's like when your first girlfriend invites you to her room and shows you her jewellery box. That's the smell." Er............ How's that again? Japanese women are kjnky"

It'd be great to have people list their TN 'buddies' lists and also their Ignore lists here. It'd be helpful to be able to find/remember some of the other folks I've forgotten/lost over the years due to the ebbs and flows of the internet.

I'll start. I am not ignoring anyone presently. Below is my TN Buddies list so far --

AlexRed, babnik, Bressler, Dave Mci, davidn, dinwiddie, futronic, jaimetown, JohnnyB, jpschust, otisabdul, SacredCow, Seanr7, shaferguy91, tanglenet, travelrep, Vino Me, wineismylife, Winetex

It shouldn't be a popularity contest (not at all directed at you Pool Boy). I'm still adding but I've found that there are people that I probably won't star because they don't write a lot of TNs on the type of wines that I like. Though no doubt a useful tool.

Not intended to make it a popularity contest at all. Ideally, I'll start with a long(er) list and eventually shrink it down to the folks who drink stuff I like but also drink stuff I want to try to get more in to.

Pool Boy, I agree with you in regards to a popularity contest: there is a little bit of that. However, I decided not to limit my buddies to just "tasters" but to add real "buddies". I enjoy several posters here who I've never met like you, and several that I have met at offlines. I find that if I add them, I can see what they're drinking as well as their thoughts. It's easy to add the same names who keep popping up who drink the same wines that are  in my inventory. But, I find that it's more interesting to see the wines that I'm not drinking and to get ideas about those from people who I see posting day to day.

I view the 'buddies' function on Cellartracker much as I view 'Friends' and 'Family' functions over on Flickr -- it's a great way to stay in touch with a variety of folks -- through pictures. Except of Cellartracker, it is the same only you see things through Cabernet (or Riesling, or Sangiovese, etc) glasses.

Thanks Tanglenet for the Cellartracker nod on TNs. I also hope to meet you one day.

I hope the emoticons are better on this site than WS's.

(ps I still haven't found them.)
