If I had a choice between Riedel Vinum Sauvignon Blanc and Vinum Chardonnay which should I choose for drinking German QmP's (mainly Kabinett and Spatlese, and occasionally Auslese)?

Thanks.

Per Riedel

416/15 is best.

In the Somm: Kabinett 400/1
Spatlese 400/15

I got the 416/15 (Edward correct me if I am wrong). Works well, but wish the stems were longer.

Actually put some riesling in a champagne flute last night at Celedon (we had 11 wines and I had filled by other 2 glasses with other wine. It actually worked pretty well, but it looks stupid.

Frankly, I don't understand the fine art and science of matching wines with glass shapes. To me the bouquet of all wines are best in the rhone shape glass.

Thank you gentlemen. My wife had an opportunity to purchase either the Vinum SB or the Chard at what appeared to be a very low price. However both me and Mrs X drink a lot more Riesling than SB or Chard. In any case, from your responses it seems best to stay away from both and just get the proper Riesling ones when we can afford them.

Yeah the stems are a bit 'squat'. i prefer a glass with some height to fit the hand a bit better. The rhone glass, has a shape that is close in style, and shape of many of the stems.

Now champagne flutes are a bit extreme.
