Spieglau Bordeaux are extremely thin glass on the rim. I kinda of would prefer something else like the Tritan if they are a little sturdier. (knock on wood, we've gone a while with out breaking wine glasses, just crappy dishes this week)

I have never broken a single stem. And, honestly, only one stem has ever been broken (by a guest) once in our home.

I'm suprised that people are breaking the Tritan stems. I was at my in-laws a few weeks ago and they showed me their new Tritans. (I had never heard of them)

For whatever reason they were under the impression that they are made of polycarbonate. They told me, "they don't break". I was skeptical at first because they felt like glass to me, but I was eventually convinced. So I smacked the bowl of one on the granite counter top!

Luckily nothing happened, but having read this thread I don't think I'll try it again.

We broke a champagne flute at the weekend. My daughter was waving a toy around and knocked it over on a wooden table.
I was surprised that it broke; the fact that it was half full and thus had more momentum than when it was empty may have been a factor.
I'm still a believer though.

One of my Bordeaux glasses developed a very strange "stain". It was as if something had been poured on it and dribbled down the sides, then left to dry.
You could only really see it when you held it up to the light, but then it was clera. Looked a bit like a skeletal hand!
However it wouldn't come off no matter what - it appeared to be etched into the glass. Thankfully K&L exchanged it with no question.

Wow, Dave, a skeletal hand!   This reminds me of the story of Colonel Buck in Bucksport, Maine  .

So, who'd you pi$$ off?

Cheers, y'all

See what you think: Skeletal hand
Love the Buck story BTW. "To prove I'm not a witch I'm going to curse you for all time!" You're not helping your defence much, love.

I'd have put it up on Ebay and see if some wicken wino would pay enough to buy a dozen stems in its place!
