Dan,
When the somm went to pour, I let out a Holy Sh... I can't believe you pour that by the glass. He laughed and asked if I was in the business, I told him no, just a wine geek. He laughed and said only a few of their patrons, who weren't in the wine biz, recognized it.

Pour Que, did you do the tasting or the tour at Alinea? We did the tour. Many of those wines are the same as we had about 2 weeks ago with a few substitutions.

2004 Rivers Marie "Summa" Pinot Noir
2003 Buccella Cabernet

Both were terrific, and both could use more time in the cellar.

Beta testing a new signature.

2006 Macphail Sonoma Coast. Surprisingly approachable for a young pinot. Nice fruit and spice with decent balance to boot...

Bea is the best producer of Sagrantino di Montefalco imo although he definitely produces more rustic wines than the other leading producer in the zone, Caprai  His straight Sagrantino and his Montefalco Rosso/Rosso Riserva (Sangiovese; Montepulciano; Sagrantino) are exciting wines.  If you see one of these on a wine list and are having big, gutsy food then go for it.  You won't be disappointed.

WT,
Dan covered Bea.  I'll just add that it is a very exciting producer to me that can make some wild wines.

Joe,
I did the Tour.   The most creative dining experience I've ever had.
