1999 Karl Lawrence Napa Valley Cabernet - took more than an hour to show aromas - decent but give it at least an hour in the decanter

I've learned that wherever I go, the world's worst drivers
have followed me there.

This one I shared after she got back otherwise she might have wondered as to why there was no wine open on a Friday night...

Ya know Max, I really don't think so.  It is going strong, but I get the feeling this is one to enjoy in it's youth, before it starts dropping fruit.  My concern is that there may not be much left once the fruit isn't the dominant character.  Plus, tannins are smooth and well integrated, so it is plenty approachable now.

Spent a week in Chicago for a convention....went crazy at the restaurants while I was there. I think I gained 5lbs.

At Avec
I didn't write them down so I don't have a prayer of remembering. This is a phenomenal list of wines made from indingenous varietals. The food is also very good, and a superb value. I felt like my meal was a steal. I had a portugese red blend for one wine.

At Charlie Trotters:
I did the pairings. The highlights were:
1996 La Grande Dame
2005 Kistler Hyde
2005 Continuum
2003 Elderton "Command" Shiraz

At Alinea:
Again, did the pairings with the highlights:
NV Billecart-Salmon Rose
2005 Vigneau-Chevreau Vouvray "Clos de Rougemont"
2006 Fonthill "Sea Air" Verdelho, Mclaren Vale
2006 Roblet-Monnot "Rosae" Bourgogne
2001 Burguet Gevrey Chambertin "Mes Favorites"
2003 Paolo Bea Montefalco Riserva "Pipparaello"
2004 El Nido Clio
2003 Nittnaus Beernauslese "Cuvee Premium"
At Eno Wine Bar:
1999 Nada Barbaresco Riserva
2005 Chateau Puynormond VV

Many Goose Island 312s and Honker Ales

Also dined at and LOVE Naha, but Alinea is on par with TFL and Per Se imo.

2006 Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc (Because of wine prices if one buys at least a six pack I've been buying wine at Safeway recently.  While this wine is a little hot its really pretty decent for $15)
2002 Littorai Pinot Noir Thieriot (needs a few more years in the cellar)

Heck of a line up PourQue.  Great to see they are serving up Bea at Alinea.
