| In general, 2000 was a terrible year for cabernet fans in Napa. However, this is one of the few to exceptions to the rule. This wine is clean, elegant, loaded with fruit but with an excellent structure. The flavors include creme de cassis, graphite, and briar. The tannins pucker up your mouth, but the finish goes a very long way. This wine should be at its best in the next 3-4 years. Hands off for another year to give it time. I'm going to look into buying more of this. Its that good. I'd rate it 92+.  | | |

| Jones has a south facing vineyard and has no trouble getting ripe. They were a great '98 as well as a great '00.

| There was a very important caveat: "IN GENERAL". I stand by the statement. However, excellent vineyards and winemakers can produce miracles even under exceptionally challenging circumstances.

The 98 is the best Jones Family to consume right now imo. I would not touch the 2000, 1999, or 1997 at the present time (although recent 97s are showing some signs of reemerging). Four years post vintage is generally not a good time to pull the cork on a Jones Family Cabernet Sauvignon imo. If you do the wine needs a lot of airtime (but that's a poor substitute imo). | | | |

The 2000 The Sisters can be drunk now after one hour in the decanter (it really needs that decanting time). | | | |

If you don't drink one right after release then you need to let the wine sit for at least five years. When the 2001s are released then my advice would be to drink one right away and then cellar the rest of them until 2010 or so. | | | |

| The 2001 is the best Jones Family to be bottled but I expect that the 2002 will be better. Try one of the 2001s a couple of weeks after you get it so you can see how it is young.

| Tried my first '00 tonight just because, well it just jumped into my hands.
This is clearly one of the best wines of the vintage, imho. Lots of spice, fruit and backbone. Firm mostly ripe tannins. Remarkably balanced, youthful and ageworthy (I haven't said that about many '00s -haven't tried Bressler yet). Overall, a classy and classically structured wine reminding me of a great ripe-year St. Estephe.
