| | Took the opportunity to blind taste for my guests with the 2000 Briceland PN, and the 2000 Briceland PN Elk Prairie Single Vineyard for the appetiser wines. Bought both from Wine Exchange in Sonoma. Regular bottling was $16,50 with discount, SV was $21,50 with discount. Decanted for 45 minutes. Everyone agreed that the SV was smoother, and an easier drinker. The regular bottling was drier, had more nose, both fruit as well as spice, but both were fantastic values. With the shrimp cocktail, the SV paired better. IMO the regular bottling would have paired better with our usual cheese and meat appetisers. Both wines were group rated (very loosely mind you) at 90 points, I actually had the SV higher at 91 points for the smoothness with a straight 90 for the regular bottling. My QPR is B+ for both. I’d heartily recommend but I bought the last bottles the Wine Exchange had. As I recall, production for both is small at roughly 200-300 cases. | | | |
