This is the Dry Creek Valley Benchland Wine offering. Purchased for $24.00 a bottle at Central Market. Bottle does not say but I am guessing a high cabernet content with maybe a small portion of a blending wine such as merlot and cabernet franc. 13% alcohol. Opened and served without decanting in daily Bordeaux style stems. Clear rose to garnet color in the glass that is pretty when swirled in the glass. Nose of smoky cedar, plum and cherries. A little pepper up front with a very fruit forward flavor of sweet cherries over a soft, tannic frame. Not a long term ager but a very enjoyable wine at the price that drinks well now. 88 points. Here are the WS notes on this wine: Firm, with good depth to sturdy black cherry, cedar, vanilla and fresh herb flavors. Solid tannic structure and chewy concentration will reward cellaring and a grilled steak. Drink now through 2007. 3,880 cases made. 87 points.
