Very herbacious nose that screamed of unripe fruit and just a hint of horse smell on the fringes. In the mouth the wine displayed a medium body with firm enough tannins to provide good structure. Flavors of blueberry were present as well as an artificial fruit flavor that finished with a touch of anise. The unpleasent nose did blow off somewhat as the night went on. Although unimpressive this was not bad at $10 and it displayed better body then most bottles in this price range that are of this variety.

TCK, even with the very herbacious nose... it still warrants an "almost very good" rating?

Anything that I deem "herbacious" I really find as a detriment to the wine.... but that's just me. I look at it as a serious flaw.

The nose was not a good judge of the flavor. In the mouth the wine displayed blueberries and anise that were quite nice. Also, the well structured body helped.

I don't always consider herbs a flaw, but they were here. There have been wines - some good Bordeauxs, that have shown hints Thyme and Sage and I found it intriguing.
