85 WS; 87 WT; $24

From the Spelletich website this wine is 76% Zinfandel from Howell Mountain and St. Helena; 12% Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena and Chiles Valley; 12% Merlot from St. Helena.

I did not know the blend before drinking this wine so it was interesting to try to guess. I kept saying that it was zin on the nose but on the palate it tasted like something else. There was some vanilla and oakiness in the middle but the structure seemed like a cab. Once it warmed up to room temp it was a bit green tasting. WS says that is “dill” but I could not identify it. It was very pleasant wine but ultimately too expensive.

No buy in the future at this price. Below $20 it would be a maybe.
