| | Strong aromatics of berries, cherry, and spicy oak. Rich and round in the mouth flavors of cherry, cocoa, vanilla, toasty oak and a little cedar. Maybe an herbal hint but certainly a subtle one. A little sweet cherry and oak tannin on the finish. I had the 99 version of this wine which I remember being somewhat of a fruit bomb monster wine, this is a little more restrained. Pleasant drink I think I paid $14 and would rate 86 pts. Decent QPR for Califonia Merlot but see my note on Norton Ridge for a better one. | | | |
