  • 2005 Ketcham Estate Pinot Noir Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (7/5/2008)
Popped and poured. Medium purple/red hue. Nose is open for business, very nice aromas of cola, fresh strawberries, raspberries, and other assorted fruits plus hints of spice and forest floor. Medium body, much lighter and elegant compared to other Russian River Pinots recently tasted. Smooth and sensual, tannins are elegance personified. Pure strawberry jam on the palate with additional nuances of oak derived spice. Only detraction may be the touch of heat on the finish but still a lovely pinot. Floral notes appear on the nose as I type this. A wine to savor over the evening. I see no reason to hold onto this, can't imagine it improving too much. Drink and enjoy! (93 pts.)
