- 2001 Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/19/2008)
Opened and allowed to sit (without decanting) for an hour. Nice black-cherry coloring, but thinning a bit on the edges. Tinge of alocohol and pepper on the nose along with copius black fruits. Very light on the palate, slight alcohol burn, black and dark red fruit, and fading tanins. This is drinking very well, but is at it peak and should be consumed within 2-4 years. May already be fading, but still quite enjoyable. At $33 from the winery in Summer '06, this is an excellent value, as are most of the Ehlers Estate wines. (90 pts.)
