Based on some great comments from Wes in a thread over on eBbob I figured I'd better dig this out of the cellar and see for myself where it stands, as he mentioned he thought it just starting to fade a bit. I am absolutely certain Wes knows this wine infintely better than I do, and his advise is sage and should be followed, but that isn't going to stop me!

I'm here to tell you that it all comes back to the age old question of "how do you like your Pinot"? I love old Pinot, middle aged Pinot, and young Pinot, but I must admit - my heart is more and more given to aged examples, and this particular wine is coming along beautifully as far as I am concerned. If you are interested in primary fruit, "lushness", etc., then look elsewhere.

On the other hand, if you like forest floor, mushroom, earth, and iron - all complemented by high-tones, but sort of secondary, bright fruit (does that even make sense?), then here you go. There is an undeniable, alluring depth to the nose of this wine, and the palate possesses still formidable, but ripe round tannins. Racy acidity keeps everything lively, and the wine has an intrigue that just keeps you coming back...

My only regret? I have but one bottle left - when to open it? A great wine to spend time with, I highly recommend doing so if you can.
