Unscrewed and poured into Riedel Burgundy stems. Purple hue, slight ruby on the edges. Nicely perfumed...cherry, underripe strawberry, cinnamon & other spices. Intriguing notions of forest floor, floral aromas of lavender and herbs developed in glass. Medium bodied, the flavors of cherry and spice are what really stand out in the mouth. Very easy drinking with soft tannins and enough acidity to keep it refreshing. Finishes very pure but not so long...in fact, this offering reminds me of the regular bottling in that the nose is much more complex than what actually hits the palate. Not a step up from the regular bottling but still outstanding (I actually prefer the regular bottling). I look forward to future offerings from Richard Sanford and his new label.
