| - 2003 Testarossa Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (2/16/2008)
Pop and pour, consumed over 2.5 hours. Very light - translucent in appearance. Cough medicine, tons of strawberry on the nose when first opened, but this blew off within 45 mins of air. Seemed too light to decant upon opening though in retrospect, I would decant and allow to sit for 30-60 mins given how the wine evolved. Didn't become complex or "grow" layers, but the nice red fruit boquet (and I'm not a huge strawberry fan, at least in wine) really wasn't shown on the taste, which had ample muted fruit, a bit of rhubard, nice acidity, and a fine aftertaste. Seemed more powerful than the stated 14.3% alcohol level. Overall quite enjoyable. Outstanding as paired with halibut and a putanesca sauce. Would drink remaining bottles by 2010, although I don't see this wine improving with further bottle time. (90 pts.)
