Very Dissapointing. I really think this is a vineyard to follow and try to buy from, but I think the bottle I had was awfull, probably due to the storage:Â
We got a case directly from the winery (for my work), where it was then shipped to a warehose where it sat for a week. Then I picked it up, and handled it through a couple of SF muni bus lines, before carrying it up to my office. It then sat in a collegue's office for a bout a month (temp ranging from 60-70) before the event we bought it for. I took one of the extra bottles home with me, when I went to visit my parents in Eureka. So it had a 5 hour car ride (I kept the temperature cool) and then it was put in my fathers wine cellar for about 3 months before drinking for Christmass.
Tasting notes: DARK it looked like a light petit sirah. I tasted it, tasted like ethanol and rubbing alcohol.  When I pictured the taste with out the rubbing alcohol, I was still baffled. If I tasted blind, I might have desperately guessed some sort of Rhone varietal.  It was darker and more tannic than I'm used to tasting in pinots (limited experience though). Over all I cannot rate this wine. I will buy again if I have the chance, next time I will baby the bottle a bit more. |
