So I've had this once or twice from barrel, but this is the first time I've actually had the final bottled product! I loved it from barrel, and figured since we were having Lobel's Wagyu for dinner tonight this was as good a time as any to see how it's coming along.
The wine was decanted for about 1 1/2 hour before serving - glad I did, as it was pretty reticent on the nice at first. Very dark, saturated, opaque purple in color, the nose just screams classic cassis notes! A lofty nose, with sweet red cherries, white flowers, and a touch of mint(?) accenting the aforementioned cassis. Very young, the wine has firm tannins and needs some time in the cellar! That said, the tannins are fine and sweet, and the wine has excellent balance and purity, no harsh edges, with a medium finish that is pleasing to the end. 93 points, I've got seven more and I'm looking forward to seeing how this wine evolves!
