Wow. great wine. opened on friday and had a glass had a glass on saturday afternoon, finished the bottle sunday. still in a great place after 2 full days vacuvin-ed in the cellar.
great raspberry and pomegranate fruit with a little bit of dark cherry. with some earthy depth on day one and 2, nice acid component present on all three days, never was out of joint, with high tone fruit coming out with spice on third day. will last for a while... great all three days (93 pts.)

| | We had this over the weekend next to a Aubert and RC La Neblina Pinot. The general concensus was that this was heads and shoulders above these 2. | | | |

| I had this about a week ago in a lineup with five Burgundys (whose name I couldn't pronounce let alone remember them). It was my favorite of the five. But we all know CA Pinot is always better than that frog stuff.

| | I agree with the positive notes, I thought the Alesia Pinot was incredibly well made, didn't have that typical young Pinot funk on the nose and just built to please. Delicious stuff. I will be careful as to when I open my remaining two bottles. | | | |

| Worked real well with broiled salmon.
2004 Rhys Pinot Noir Alesia Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (1/19/2007) Opened for 30 minutes and consumed over 3 hours. Initially this wine was all over the place, a bit fizzy, tart and acidic. After about an hour, things calmed down to reveal a very nice, bright fruit bouquet of red raspberries, cranberries and background of herbs and earth. The lasting impression of this wine will be the last glass' mouth feel, which was almost seductive in feel consisting of plentiful raspberries, a touch of strawberry and a nice spice component. Balanced acidity and tannin structure provided for a medium length finish. Nice first effort and solid QPR that needs 2-3 years to really sing from the get-go. | I'm not quite as excited about this wine as others are but this is a style preference. I do like the acidity in the Rhys/Alesia wines and think that is a good sign for future wines. This one needs some bottle time to settle down.

Closer to a 91. Lots of nutmeg and raspberry on the very aromatic nose with cherry and a touch of pine flavors. Very long, spicy finish with some anise. A bit of candied fruit which I don't care for but that's a stylistic preference. Good balance with acidity on the finish. Needs more integration which should come with short-term aging to really shine. All components were there for improvement. (90 pts.)

| Yes Maxy TN atKanzler.
I probably should have rated the Kanzler at 91 but again I think it also needs to come together a bit. At this point in time I think the Kanzler was better than the Sonoma Coast.

| Did the two day / vacvin approach.
Day 1: Bit tart at first, enjoyed but didn't wow me.
Day 2: really came out of the shell. Luscious mouthfeel with a nice rich nose. Definitely not a french wine, very california but delicious. Wish I'd saved more from the first day. 92+ RR pts.

Wow, reading the notes above, I have to say that I must have been drinking some other wine when in fact it is the same wine. Average points above about 92-93.
We had this wine with another wino couple & all of us were unimpressed. Not a bad bottle of wine, but very average, simple, not much going on behind the scenes, etc... Drinking this blindly, I would gladly pay $18-$28.00 for it. We gave it plenty of time too.
Last night 88 points & drink or hold.

| My 2nd bottle since the mailer hit. A better showing than the 1st bottle above. Tonight 89 points. The debate to buy or pass on the latest mailer continues...

| | I think his wines are all going to need some time before showing well. From what I've seen they have shown there best after lots of air. | | | |
