| - N.V. Sherwin Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Cellar Scraps - USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District (11/24/2006)
First sampled in July with Steve on site, shortly after bottling if I recall. It was then a pop and pour, and while you could tell it had some good components, it was awkward and disjointed. Wasn't too different immediately upon opening last night, but after splash decanting and allowing to sit for 75 mins, this really blossomed. Black fruits, rose petals, brambles and a smooth but fruity finish. Shortly after hitting this ideallic window, the wine became more of an alcoholic fruit-bomb. Enjoyable, but continuously sample over a period of time. Its window was limited tonite, but nice when it hit its stride. (89 pts.)

| | I tasted the Cellar Scraps last Monday when I visited Sherwin Family on the recommendation of Bob Bressler. (Thanks Bob) It was fruity and easy drinking. However, I was really impressed with their 2003 and especially the 2004 Cabernet. Both bottles were open for a bit and had time to breathe and were outstanding. I purchased the 2003 and plan on purchaing the 2004 when released. | | | |

| N.V. Sherwin Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Cellar Scraps - USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District (3/8/2008)
Decanted, allowed to sit for an hour, with half the bottle consumed over 2.5 hours; the other half was poured into a .375, gassed and recorked.
Dramatically different then the first tasting about 15 months ago. Still retains a dark cab coloring but appears noticably thinner, with even some lite coloring around the edges. Very floral boquet, blue fruit with some eucalyptus. Tastes more like a petite syrah than a cab, though its tannic mouthfeel is more cab-like, followed by a brief alcohol burn.
Day 2 - Not quite as floral, but still seems more like a syrah or PS than a cab. More fruit-based today than tannic, and frankly more enjoyable. Still retains some heat and just an odd wine in general, though probably not bad with asian foods or firm fish like tuna. Still, not worth the $$ (88 pts.) | | | |
