The 1984 Hillside Select is an example of a wine that someone apparently decided must be elegant. Therefore what one gets is a faint, simple fruity nose, backed by some oak, and modest, medium-bodied flavors that fall off on the palate. Most generic Bordeaux costing $5-$6 have more flavor and character. 80 pts.

Lest I get sued for plagiarism this is Parker's review from Issue 63. I love his old reviews. No mincing words (many scores in 50's, 60's and 70's).
