1982 Duckhorn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/12/2006)
This wine has always been tannic and that shows no signs of abating. Bright ruby red; no visible bricking. I see nothing to suggest that the fruit will outlast the tannins, but it is drinking very nicely. Solid core of fruit with a slightly astringent finish. A shade below the '82 Montelena, but one of the better '82 cab's that I have had recently. 13.5% alcohol, 5% merlot, 5% cabernet franc. Probably will not get any better, but it shows no signs of going over the hill. (90 pts.)
