The grapes used to make this wine were planted in 1995. The vines are grafted to the Pommard and Swan clones. First tasted in barrel where it was VERY forward , this wine's nose is closed. You can pick up a bit of raspberry and spice that seems to come from the Swan clone. The flavors are cherry and probably driven by the Pommard. The wine is smooth but there is no frontal attack or finish to speak of - one of the few wine with a great midpalate but little else. I will be intersted to see what the next bottle brings. Open and decanted about an hour before serving.
