The last time we had this wine it was open and signing. In fact, most every bottle before this one has been. Last night, it was not at all open or evolved. The nose is shy and gives a hint of the dark fruits that seem to be hiding just below the surface. The flavors are also closed but there is a bit or anise, currant and plum with some pepper. I have two bottles left and will be holding them for another year.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Thanks for the note, Pete. I just picked up two of these at auction and had planned to open one soon. Your note will prevent me from doing so.

Popped one of these at dinner last night. Decanted two hours prior to consumption. Nice nose of chocolate and some mint. Similar on the palate, along with raspberry. Tannins fully integrated and very well balanced. This should last for a few more years, easily. Just outstanding wine. I don't know what the '96 cost at release, but it was worth it.

Did a 94 - 95 - 96. About a month apart. 94 was total amazing and would of fooled anyone it was Cab. Was like 10 year old CDP believe it or not. 95 was far far superior to any other KL. 96 was just as the previous notes described. Yet to come into it's own but WOW good. I'd guess $30 or so on release.

Decanted for about 45 minutes and then consumed over the next hour. Aromas and palate show dark fruit, chocolate, and minerals. Smooth, balanced and drinking beautifully. I have one more 750 that I'll hold for another year and then a 3-liter for the 15 year mark.

Last one I had was fine - I can't remember when that was.  I have a 750 and magnum still in cellar but will hold for a while.
