| - 2002 Franciscan Oakville Estate Merlot - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/24/2006) $14.00
Purhcased in our quest for some cheap everyday drinkers. Pop and pour into glasses, balance decanted. Right out of the bottle this was olmost one dimensional - tannins and little else. After about an hour (in a decanter) some thin dark fruit flavors appeared, but tannins and oak were by far the most predominant characteristics. For a few $$ more the Franciscan cab is far more drinkable. (85 pts.)
