| Tasted Thanksgiving night late, after two different dinners. Not decanted, drank over a two hour period.
At first taste, this wine tasted a little backwards, and had a little funk to the nose...I couldn't identify it, but it blew off, and the wine started to shine. Incredible black fruit with a HUGE nose of spice. The black fruits dominate the mid-palate, with a hit of vanilla lingering. Smooth wine with a huge finish. Gets better in the glass, a wine with it's own distinct character, no doubt about that. Drinking wonderfully now, I think it will get better in the next few years. On par with the best Insignias of the 90's. I'd give it 96 points easy. | | |

| Yes, the 1994 Insignia would be a good selection. 1994 was a very good year in Napa, there are several wines which would work if you can't get your hands on the Insignia. I can also recommend the 1994 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet. | | | |

| I am with skwid. On a Great year like '94, & Insignia being Insignia, I bet it is a good choice. I have a case, but never opened 1, yet. | | | |

| LCC, I've had the 94 Insignia two or three times and it is pretty good. Personally I'd rather have the Montelena though. | | | |

| Good to hear (as I did assume so). Have a case of '94 Montelena also. If it was upto me, 1 or 2 would go now. BUT, my brother will NOT let me touch any of these, YET. "Still aging & good way to loose that hand... )" as he says. So, have to wait a few more years. He is older, so... | | | |

| I know. But, he is very particular about drinking Wines too early. Very particular. And, both of these are 20+ year Wines. He will NOT touch them. I would, you know that. But, since these are "shared", I wait... I have NO say. | | | |

| You have NO SAY, yet they are SHARED? I think your brother needs to attend an offline with us soon. I will bring a 1994 Montelena for him to drink. | | | |
