In honor of today's purchase of the 2002 Insignia. The 1986, '84 and '80 Insignia's are still wonderful wines. The '81 has always lagged behind in my book.

• 1981 Joseph Phelps Insignia - USA, California, Napa Valley (11/26/2005)
  Fairly light red color, some bricking at edges. Not much fruit left in this one, but still a nice. elegant wine. Just a hint left of the mint that once was so prominent in this wine. Drink up! (60% Cabernet, 28% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc) (89 pts.)
