I picked this up at costco (I believe around $12), evidently this comes from a new joint venture between Mondavi and Rosemount. There is a seperate label "Kirralaa" for the Australian based wines. I opened this Monday night, my first impression was very positive and reminded me a little of my first taste of the Marquis Phillips wines. The wine was a dark ruby color with a dark core. The aromas were of blackberries, mocha, and spicy vanillan oak. The wine was ripe and round with blackberry, blueberry fruit with touches of mocha and mint, and finished with a decent dose of spicy oak. As I drank a couple of glasses the oak seemed to become more prominent and the wine was a touch below my initial impression. This wine is not quite as extracted as the MP wines but actually IMHO represent an OK value. I would rate this wine around 86pts and will buy a bottle again.

I believe they are planning to realase a high end Shiraz/Syrah (1 from Cal and 1 from Aust) later in the year. The winemaker is I believe an Australian that came over from Seven Peaks. There is also a Cab/Merlot out.
