| Probably at it's peak. This wine was purchased at the winery in 03 and cellared since. Opened and tasted immed. Good color, rich dark red with just a bid of fading on the rim. Nice aromas of fruit, trees and spice. Took a while to balance itself out on the palate- at first the fruit seemed muted and it was acidic - that made it seem thin (?) to me. Much much better after an hour and more. Zin's wild fruitiness is detectable; solid tannic structure and the 'after palate' flavors warm and very pleasant. Tasty. This paired well with cheddar cheeses. kpak is going to go on a limb and assign a number - 89. V Sattui is not necessarily my favorite winery but I always visit the deli when I'm there and taste and buy a bottle or two. | | The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits... ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon. | |
