A medium ruby color, with only moderate bricking, the nose is initially quite musty, but that blows off in a few minutes to reveal a surprisingly delightful and fruity wine! Aromas of soft red plums, currants, and leather lead into a wine with good body, very soft tannins, and some degree of complexity. In the mouth spice notes emerge, along with black plumy flavors – a very nice wine, and perhaps the biggest surprise of the weekend!

Eric;
June of '04 I had the pleasure of opening a '74 Christian Bros. Cab at our 'going away' party. The host (a member of our wine group in Louisvlle) had purchased a truckload of odd bottles from a lady whose husband had passed away - he had stored them at Chris' wineshop and when he passed, the lady esssentially sold everything stored there for around $3.50 a bottle (this was in the mid-late 70s).

This wine (the '74) along w/some late 60s Inglenook cabs were quite surprising, too. Very drinkable and enjoyable for the more than just the aesthetic value of a 30-yr. old Cali cab.

It's a bitch that consumers/marketing have driven most winemakers to make their wines immediately ready for consumption...
