2000 Robert Biale Zinfandel Napa Valley Black Chicken (WIML87,WA90,WS87)

Tasted September 14, 2005 at an offline at a restaurant so brief comments only. Opened and served immediately in Spiegelau Authenthis Magnum glasses. Dark purple in the glass with a clear hue. Nose of black currant, dark fruits and just a little scorched earth. Bing cherries and “skittles” come to mind at first on the palate, followed by an almost Amarone like sensation. Toss in a little spiciness toss for good measure and a little hot on the finish…this wine is a real conundrum. Drink now. If you have it, drink it. If you don’t, don’t buy it.
