$15 or so; TJ Points 84

Tasted out of Siegelau Bordeaux stems. Drank this while eating a dinner of plain old Filet Mignon rather expertly prepared by moi. Finished off the pan by deglazing it with some red wine and then sauteed some mushrooms in it to accompany the meat. Served with a side of ranch potatoes.

I opened this bottle with some reservations since I'd had it about 6 months ago and the bottle was pretty underwhelming. Still, I thought I'd give this, my last bottle a try.

A nose of pencil lead & spiced plums. Tasted of the same, along with allspice and overripe cranberries. This wine was not as bright and vibrant looking as I'd expect, even with the faintest of grayish-brwn color on the edges. Finish was decently long.

This wine was a little two-dimensional for me, there was not enough oompf for this wine to make it into the next points bracket (85-89) for me, but it was certainly a 'good' (hence the points I assigned it are in the 80-84 bracket).
