Today I was surprised by my sisters husband when he brought out a bottle of this wine to have with dinner. All I could think of was yeah this is going to be really bad. I was waaaaayyyyy wrong.

There is no amber, or brown to the color just deep dark purple. The spectacular, huge, nose of cassis, lead pencil, and cigar box is very youthful. Concentration was very nice, this full-bodied, rich wine possesses very little tannin , vibrant, acidity was in balance. Drink NOW. won't get any better. The last pour of wine sat in my glass for 2 hours and didn't even change in color or smell. Loved this wine.

Your report does not surprise me. I cannot think of a california winery that has a longer sustainable track record for aging red wines than Inglenook.

Wow, that's impressive. What kind of rating would you give it? Does he have anymore? Am I invited over to your house next time he opens one? hehehe

This is just one of the many reasons I love wine. Can you imagine having someone pull this out? Great story. Does he have anymore? Why did he have it? Where did he get it?

I would have walked out with it and said something along the lines of, "you may have heard of this winery...it now houses Godfather golf towels.."

Really cool.

I don't know that he has anymore of that particular wine. My brother is a local celebrity here in Sacramento and has been for 35+ years. He is always given wine gems as gifts, and the kicker is that he doesn't care who makes it or what it costs because it all tastes the same to him. He owned a Pinot vineyard in Sonoma back in the 60's so he does know a bit about wine, but just doesn't care about brands or hype. This Inglenook could have been a Rancho Zabaco zin and he would have treated it just the same.

One of the very first wine experiences I had was when I was 21 and at Thanksgiving he brought out a bottle of 78 La Tache, and he had no clue what it was, and neither did I at the time. I am fortunate to have him in my family for many reasons, but this is the best.

When Rush Limbaugh last re-newed his contract he sent my brother a case of 1986 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Le Montrachet as a thank you gift for getting him out of Sacramento and start his broadcast nationaly as well as his TV show. My brother gave it away as Christmas gifts. Yes he is a re-gifter with no clue. The stories go on, but I appreciate all he gets
