My only bottle

Color: deep ruby, clear
Aroma: Bramble cherry
Flavor: This is one very nice PN. With slightly raw cherry, raspberry, and touch of cranberry like tartness, mixed with earth, smooth non imposing tannins, this is very similar to the Savoy, but perhaps deeper. Wish I had purchased more.

Also my only bottle:

100 cases produced

Ruby cranberry juice in color. Very faint nose of cloves and black pepper. On the palate there were bushels of herbs and spiciness.

I felt that this wine needs about atleast another 6 months of cellar time as it was not glowing last night, even after 1 hour's worth of air time. I enjoyed the 2003 Savoy but the herbalness overwhelmed me in the Hellenthal. But to be fair to Eric Sussman, this was a well crafted wine.

FWIW...this wine came across to me as being slightly shut down. The tannin and acidity was there but the fruit just didn't show through very well. I'm thinking it will come around at some point.

Opened a bottle of the Hellenthal tonight - showing very well, though with a touch of heat (though I may be a little picky). Juicy red fruits, good acidity - not up to the level of the Savoy I had recently, but still a nice drink. 90 Points.

As a fan of R-C wines, I found this bottle to be "disappointing". I expected more from a R-C pinot. Not that it is a bad bottle of wine, but as I rate it tonight 89 points, I was expecting a better showing. There is no reason to hold this wine, it is not like it will improve. But, no rush either.

Rating: 89 points, drink or hold.
