I really don't know if any more are available. I ordered these a couple of years ago. I recently received an offer for 2003 futures, but based on what I've read and my overflowing cellar, I passed.

i am surprised that you went for 2 cases considering your space issue as well. i want to buy more 02 than i did the 01's but i really don't know where i am going to put them. just wondering on the 3l because i really never read of anyone else buying them except for you. i am sure many did, but then again how many did they bottle in that fashion?

I really don't know. When I got the offer, I jumped at it. I love large format bottles. The reason I bought two cases of 750 was the price. A store near me had it in the back for their better customers and never put it out. When I walked in one day, I said hello to one of the guys who work there. I alwasys talk with him and that day he told me he had the '01 Insignia at a great price. I asked him how much and he said the magic words, "Eighty dollars." Ihad to load up at that price.

I remember hearing about the great price Board-O got for the Insignia, and I wondered who he had to bribe to get that deal.

375 Bottle. Decanted for 90mins. Deep coloring, soft but expressive aromas of ripe black fruits, maybe some coffee. Thinner than expected but drinking extraordinarily well at the moment, particularly as the decant time lingers on. Watery-blackberry flavors dont' seem "over the top" and structure is extremely well-balanced. Granted it's a split, but it has me wondering if this will age as long as most say. Continue to follow over the coming 2 years. (93 pts.)

I had a bottle of this on Saturday night. Although I didn't take any notes, I was quite pleased with the wine, thinking that it was better than the 99's and 00's that I have had, but not as good as the 97 I have tasted.

I am still wondering whether I should pull the trigger and buy some of this, or just wait for the 2002 to come out.

i can't wait for the 02. the only question is how much to buy. insignia is still a relative bargain as far as cali blue chips go.

Beautiful wine. Wonderful berry and cassis nose, to a rich, lush cherry palate. Extremely well-integrated and balance. Decanted about 2.5 hours, it was a pleasure to enjoy this developing over the next 3. Finally, one worth the price.

Hello everyone, first post, joined because I couldn't resist commenting on the 2001 Phelps Insignia . Have tasted it twice earlier in the year and both times I was blown away by how it evolved with time/air. After 3+ hours in the decanter it seemd to keep growing and evolving - especially on the nose, which was seemingly pronounced yet deep and brooding.

Clearly was the winner in a tasting that included the 2001 Mondavi Reseve and 2001 Pride (not reserve).

Also tried the 2002 Insignia last year (however, not with the 2001)...great juice but at this point I really prefer the 2001.

Anyone had a chance to drink the 2002 lately? Not an easy bottle to find anymore at a decent price point.
