| Poured into a decanter and then poured some into my glass. Drunk from a Riedel Somm Bordeaux. Had a porterhouse steak Medium Rare with this for dinner. Purchased from the winery and picked up at the winery.
Upon first opening the wine there seemed to be a strange funk which quickly went away. On the nose there are blackberries and chocolate on the nose. The tanin is very well integrated and there are more blackberries and chocolate in the mouth. The finish lasts for over a minute. Overall this is a very nice wine. I'm glad I purchased five of them. | | | |

just wanted to pass on some info i read on ebob awile back. there was a whole thread around the fact the pride cab does not age. while i cannot confirm this as i have never had a bottle, there were quite a few people who agreed. the general conclusion was drink up within the first couple years, there isn't a sleeper phase. i hope that helps. | | | |

The last time I had the '01 Cab Franc I thought it was tightening up a bit. It does have noticeable more structure than the '02s (which I'd prefer to open if given the choice). I'm not sure how much Cab Franc 'closes down' (if at all), but I'd be sure to give it plenty of air (at least 1-2 hours) before consuming. | | | |

| The 1997 and 1998 cab francs that we drank earlier this year had lost some of the initial fruit-forward appeal that we found earlier in their lives. I think my recomendation would be to drink the franc and the merlot sooner than later based on these two vintages. I have not purchased any since 1998.

| Okay, drinking now and it is thick, rich and chewy.
Lots of fruit - somewhat alcohol-ish on the nose. I thought the tannins a bit hard at the start but mellowed with some air-time.
Great finish - the aftertaste almost better than initial hit. | |

| 2002 Pride Mountain Cabernet Franc - USA, California, Sonoma County, Spring Mountain District (4/15/2005)
First ever Cabernet Franc and it won't be the last. Very expressive nose of mint and mixed fruit. The palate is a mixture of violets, roses, mint and deep red fruit, a fruit I can't even describe. I only have one more of these left and I'm going to let it sit to let the tannins soften. If it can keep its balance over the next 7-8 years this will be a 95+ wine. Will be ordering the '03s next week. (94 pts.) | | | |
