We had this tonight with pan-seared magret with shi-take mushroom sauce.

The medium-dark purple wine showed no sign of browning and exhibited a flowery of berries with a little cedar. On the palate, the flavor of raspberries was pervasive and extremely well-balanced by the acidity and tannin. Based on the 2 others I've had in the past, this is a wine at its peak. For drinking now or within a year. 93 points.

Some times I just drool at the selections you have in your cellar. Reading your notes on an 81 California Cab is motivation to anyone to keep the corks in the bottles and wait it out!

Based on your experience with this winery, do you think that they have slipped? Many people I have talked to don't think the quality is what it used to be.

I believe price is a major factor in passing this wine over. At $150-170 per it does not even render a fleeting glance from me. As far as the quality of what is in the bottle..........I guess I will never know........at least from my own cellar.

I haven't had any recent vintages of Diamond Creek, but the older ones (I still have a few 1978s and 1979s) have never disappointed. I still have one bottle left of the best American wine I've ever had- the 1984 Diamond Creek Lake Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. DC only bottles the Lake Vineyard as a single vineyard bottling in exceptional years. This is a very expensive wine, but spectacular. Maybe I'll try to save the final bottle for a group event. I enjoy sharing these special wines with people who appreciate them.

Board-O

To share that bottle would be a pleasure and honour for anyone of us.

Just goes to show why I dont believe any of the nasty things people say about you
