$99CAD

Deep ruby/purple, almost opaque. Huge fruit nose with cassis, mint, dark crushed fruit. Dark fruit follows on the palate with lots of oak and tannins and a medium-long finish. Great potential. 93 points.

Is this Carmenet's Moon Mountain Reserve?

Not sure Jamie. The tasting notebook only said Chalone. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but you may be correct.

I could be mistaken, but I remember reading somewhere that when the Chalone Wine Group bought Carmenet they were going to remove the Carmanet name.

I am under the impression that the 2000 vintage will be called "Moon Mountain Vineyards." My bottles of the 1999 still say "Carmenet Moon Mountain Reserve." Good wine, but needs cellar time IMO.

STW,
I think you're right.
Carmenet used to make 'Carmenet Dynamite', but with the 2000 vintage,
it's just called Dynamite.

OK, I checked this out.

WS published an article on 9/5/02 that reported that the Carmenet brands were sold by Chalone to Beringer Blass.
Before the sale, Chalone had already decided to break Carmenet into 3 distinct labels... Carmenet, Moon Mountain, and Dynamite.

Sounds like we're all talking about the same stuff.
