| Well, I had to do it - It was about time I tasted one of the R-C wines. We consumed this Friday night with a rack of lamb and oven roasted vegetables.
Radio-Coteau 2002 La Neblina Pinot Noir ($28 from winelibrary)
A brilliant ruby color. The nose is a little closed right now, but shows promise with lots of bright red fruit flavors. A very balanced and elegant wine on the palate, this light-medium-bodied red is all that is good and right about CA Pinots. 89+ points. My wife loved it, and when I asked if she would mind me ordering some of their wine from the mailing list, she said to "go for it."

| I really liked this wine. I thought it had a lot of character, even though it is lighter than the Savoy. I agree with your assessment.

| | I bought a mixed case of the R-Cs, three each of the PNs and 3 of the Zin. I am planning to set them aside however for a few years before opening them (well maybe not the Zin) since I prefer my PN to have a little age on it. | | | |

| - 2002 Radio-Coteau Pinot Noir "La Neblina" [Sonoma Coast, California, USA] 90 pts. (7/1/2004)
Clear sparkling ruby-red color. A peppery nose when opened mellowed out to soft and ripe red fruit. Soft attack leads to a beautiful integrated and silky palate with a bit of oak. Smooth and sweet tannins show on the long, pleasurable finish. Very Burgundian, not at all over-extracted or fruit-bomb like. A beautiful wine drinking well now.

| | Served blind. Medium-garnet colour to a pink rim. Aromas of bright fruit - currant, cedar, floral (violets and lavender), and cherry. Medium-bodied. Elegant wine, with surprisingly integrated tannins. Red fruits, spice, and currant on the palate. "Seamless," as HDW put it. Moderate finish, ~30s with currant and cherry notes. 91 points (08/07/2004). | | | |

| | I had another bottle of this last night - it seemed to have filled out a little since I had my first bottle. Lots of fruit with some smokiness and spices. Very good right now, and a nice pairing to last night's turkey meatloaf. 91 points. | | | |

| A nice, light drinking pinot that with a little decanting is ready to go now. This was the pinot most approachable from the R-C lineup. Enjoyed, but not too much finesse or depth or very complex. And, did not enjoy as much as the rest of the Pinots from this producer. But still, a fine bottle of wine.
Rating: 87 points, you can hold for 1-2, but not @ all necessary (in my opinion)...
Jamietown, $28.00 from WL?!? Not a bad price... way below the Mailer price.

| | This wine is developing nicely and is very pleasant to drink. We did not decant but I am sure that we should have. I think a 30 to 45 minute decant will work nicely. The nose is more open than on release and shows a nice combination of spice, cinnamon, and red fruit. On the plate, the red fruit is tart and pleasing. I believe Eric told me that he used some Hellenthal fruit is this wine in 2002 - it tastes like it. Drink or hold. | | Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with. | |

| | It is hard for me to believe that it has been a year since we drank our previous bottle of this wine. We decanted the wine for about 1/2 hour and it improved as we drank it over the next hour or so. The nose is still somewhat closed with a pleasant combination of spice and fruit. There is more weight on the palate with seemless comination of red fruits and spices with hints of cinnamon and a nutty flavor. The wine has developed a wonderful bing cherry finish that adds to the enjoyment. I will be drinking our remaining bottles of this wine (made primarily from Hellenthal fruit) over the next year or two. | | Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with. | |

| | I am amzed but this wine just keeps getting better. The wine has matured into something far more complex than I would have ever imagined. A very enjoyable drink. | | Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with. | |
