Here are some notes from a blind tasting last Thursday. Enjoy! Kris0579

1979 Rubicon
Aroma: prunes, figs, sweet clove, dates,
Taste: short finish, drying on tongue, no fruit
Verdict: Over the Hill

1996 Trefethen Library Selection
Aroma: dusty, cedar, black cherry, black pepper
Taste: Nice upfront fruit, blackberry, cherry, very nice tannin structure
Verdict: Good, but not great

1994 Burgess
Aroma: blackberry, cedar, cherry, woody, still a bit closed in the nose
Taste: Sweet cherry, dried tobacco, tannins up, short-medium finish
Verdict: Okay - May need to open up. Seemed a little closed.

Heitz 1994 Napa
Aroma: Sweet cherry, alcohol, spicy, white pepper
Tate: Full bodied, tobacco, cherry, good balance, lingering finish
Verdict: Today's winner!!
