A very very good wine. My #2 wine of the evening, just edged out by 2001 Rudd. Nose has currant and anise, with a hint of pepper. The depth is fabulous, and the finish is long. My rating: 93-94. Well worth the price. Shafer keeps pumping out awesome wine, year in and year out.

That's good news. I was hoping this would be a winner

Thanks for the notes.

Thanks for the notes. I firgured this one would be a winner for sure. Shafer is one of my favorites top to bottom. Always dependable and have yet to be disappointed. Only thing is that I don't see it on the shelves that often (reds I mean).

Gotta hunt harder.

It is a regular for me when I entertain clients that enjoy nice wines though.

I drank a bottle of this undecanted tonight out on the town (well Folsom ) with prime rib. Again, a spectacularly floral nose that is reminiscent of Margaux, very similar to the '99. Nice full body with plenty of black fruits, good balance, nice medium plus finish. All in all, very much a carbon copy of the '99 in my book, maybe just one notch blacker. 93 points.

i wonder why parker only scored this around 90 pts? JL seems to be more on the money at 92.

Great TN. Love the reference to a nose like Margaux. I have the 99 and the 01 was always on my radar, now even more so.

Just opened one I bought today at an Austin wine store. First few sips are not impressive. Very light on the palate. So far my nod goes to the 99. More later.....

Personally I would rank the 99 higher at the moment, because it has a bit more age. I believe in its prime the 2001 will equal or exceed.

Anthony,
I totally agree on the 99. I'm going to open a 2001 soon. I just can't decide when. How is Pitt doing against the Cowboys?

Sorry guys, I just got back to Chicago. This wine really evolved for me. By the end of the bottle, I was a big fan. I'd peg this at 92-94 CWG points. BTW, I had a 375 of the 2000 at dinner tonight and it was really good. Man, these guys are consistant! I'll pick up 6-12 of the 2001 cabs.

I picked up 3 from the mailer just to stay in their good graces. Hope to find it locally eventually and pick up 3-9 more.

Ant-

Bought from the regular mailing list I received. They don't give you much time to think about it.

Are you on the HSS list?
