| | A very very good wine. My #2 wine of the evening, just edged out by 2001 Rudd. Nose has currant and anise, with a hint of pepper. The depth is fabulous, and the finish is long. My rating: 93-94. Well worth the price. Shafer keeps pumping out awesome wine, year in and year out. | | | |

| Thanks for the notes. I firgured this one would be a winner for sure. Shafer is one of my favorites top to bottom. Always dependable and have yet to be disappointed. Only thing is that I don't see it on the shelves that often (reds I mean).
Gotta hunt harder.
It is a regular for me when I entertain clients that enjoy nice wines though. | | | |

| I drank a bottle of this undecanted tonight out on the town (well Folsom  ) with prime rib. Again, a spectacularly floral nose that is reminiscent of Margaux, very similar to the '99. Nice full body with plenty of black fruits, good balance, nice medium plus finish. All in all, very much a carbon copy of the '99 in my book, maybe just one notch blacker. 93 points. | | | |

| | Personally I would rank the 99 higher at the moment, because it has a bit more age. I believe in its prime the 2001 will equal or exceed. | | | |
