I've had good experiences with theWine Library. Their sales can be pretty good but the whole sale/no sale designation is tiring. Their selection is good and the East Coast guys can probably comment on their newer store.

In the past I had a shipment of very expensive Italian wines arrive with damaged labels. They were clearly damaged before shipping maybe by a bottling machine. Wine Library promptly followed up on the situation and corrected it to my satisfaction.

Their shipping prices were reasonable.

Discuss.

Deleted to avoid confusion. Winetex's edit mooted this post.

Thanks Winetex.

Their prices are about the best in the East Coast, at least. The new store is beautiful.

Jimmyv- I fixed it. I was trying to say that I haven't dealt with them recently.

Many good transactions with WL. A pleasure to deal with. Better prices and selection than I can get here in NC.

Many good experiences with Wine Library in the past. Unfortunately, last month I tried to order a bunch of Barolos and they said it is currently illegal to ship to Minnesota. Not their fault, but I can no longer order from my favorite on-line store.

I think it's only illegal if you order online. I know when I've had stuff shipped to Minnesota, I've had to call in before.

I curse ShorttheWorld for ever directing me to this place. 6 orders later, I am impoverished. I did get some good wine at good prices though. The only mishap was that they sent me 6 bottles of Arrowood Syrah instead of the Cab Reserve. They fixed the problem though.

I spend most of my money at Wine Library. Love the new store, the selection, and the personnel. Yes, their e-mails can be annoying and the store crowded (especially now), but there is no denying their prices and availability of interesting wines.

WL has dropped off my list of first tier retailers simply because I find I don't order from them as much as I used to. I've never had any problems with orders, service has been good, etc., but their emails have changed from being tempting to annoying and filled with more hype than sustance. That said, 6 Burgs from WL arrived in my office today.

I have ordered from them before they changed their website. Now it is difficult to search and it's nearly impossible to search for any champagne. I will not purchase from a company that I can't even navigate their website.

That's good feedback, BD. I'll be sure to tell Gary and Brandon next time I'm in the store.

BTW - I forgot to mention that I live 10 minutes from the store, hence they get most of my attention.

BellaDonna, are you sure that you aren't confusing Wine Library with another on-line retailer? You can either search their site (Taittinger brings up 5 hits instantly) or browse Champagne/Sparkling. It couldn't be easier.

Lots of good transactions with them. When they do the free shipping I order multiple cases.

I'm quite sure...try the search "champagne" by itself

Maybe you should try a bricks and mortar store. When I click on "Champagne/Sparkling in the links on the left hand side I can browse through 123 champagnes. If I want to find a wine by a specific producer, the search function will find the wines every time. One of the best interfaces I have used.

Browsing WL's Champagne is a breeze.

That link must be new or something because when they had the drop down menu with like 100 different regions and varietals, there wasn't anything for "Champagne." They had "French other."

BellaDonna, I don't when the link was added. I only discovered WL a couple of months ago, but it's been there since then. I did a few of their "[wine type] all" searches (Bordeaux, California Chardonnay, etc.). All of them work flawlessly. The ONLY broken link on the search is Sparkling. Sounds like an unfortunately bit of bad luck. Of the 20 searches you could have done that would have worked perfectly, you happened on the single one that didn't work!
