| I got the e-mail, but I'm still on the wait list  2002 HL CABERNET SAUVIGNON - WAIT LIST STATUS
Although the 2002 growing season started with consistent mild summer daytime temperatures and chilly evenings, it was not without periodic heat waves unlike any seen in recent years. Early in the year, the cool foggy mornings kept the acids high, while the warmer fall temperatures pushed the ripening levels higher. September had several days of 90’s and 100’s, well above average temperatures, with dry winds and little fog, dramatically accelerating the ripening. We irrigated on a regular schedule to combat any dehydration and raisining, which allowed the grapes to continue to mature on the vine for several weeks until harvest in mid-October.
While we initially hoped for a larger crop than the abundant previous vintage, judging from the amount of clusters on the vine early in the season, in the end we saw a decided decrease from the 2001 vintage totals, allowing only a 73 case production.
This, unfortunately, means that we have no additional wine to offer you at this time, and can only offer the 2 bottle allocation to those who ordered last year. However, when the 2002 HL Cabernet Sauvignon is released in September, we will email you a list of the local retail and restaurant accounts where you might find some of our wines.
We will, as always, let you know where our wines are available for bidding at non-profit events, so that you can support those charities as well and enjoy our wines at the same time.

| AAAAA Yes, I cant wait. We tasted the 01' HL back at the Cal. cab taste off a ways back at Mark Neals and it was my wine of the night. Cant wait to try the 02' via trading silver wine opner's with Jennifer Lamb. Thanks Jen.

This is from an e-mail dated 4/30/04 announcing the innaugural release of the HL EII:
"We have been producing 50 to 100 cases of our own "Almost Howell Mountain" house wine for the last 10 years to share with friends and family and visiting customers (who then immediately get added to the 'friends' category!). And now we have chosen the finest lots of that wine to bottle for our customers' everyday enjoyment as well. Our new wine, E II, pays tribute to our Golden Retriever, Herb's loyal companion."

| HL itself does not have their own winery. Herb and Jennifer are the growers. I don't know where their wine is made. In fact without looking I don't know who their winemaker is.
Anybody know?
