How many out there in VinoCellar land took advantage of this deal?

I bought 4 six packs, getting 4 four free. So far, only one has shipped (and I placed my first order on Sept 28).

I've sent a few increasingly cranky emails to Amazon.com. Here's a response that I got today:

>>>>
Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I’ve checked into your order and see that your items are on hand and
ready to ship. I apologize for the unexpected delay.

Rest assured, your shipment should still arrive by the delivery date
estimated in Your Account: 12/04/2002. We will send you an e-mail at
the time of shipment confirming the date, contents, and method of
your shipment.

Thanks once again for shopping at Amazon.com. We hope you enjoy your
order.

Best regards,

Brandy McDaniel

OK, so their estimated date and the est. date showing on my orders doesn't match, but what's the deal with "on hand and ready to ship"? They have been busy cancelling people's orders for "inability to get any more product".

Anyway, hang in there if you're one of the folks that took advantage of this deal. Your glasses might soon be on their way.
Cheers, y'all

The older of my two orders, from which one of eight six-packs has shipped, still says I can expect mine between November 12 and 15.

For all interested:

I have not checked today. This offer was part of the Friday special. I ordered Friday night, this time the price was $40. Last time $50. First time $60.

Received the free glasses from the first order. They canceled the rest, I did not get charged for the freebies. Nor did I get a $20 coupon...

Have not received the second or third order. The second is supposed to ship tomorrow, the third the following week. We shall see.

Remember those glasses that were on hand and ready to ship? HA!

So, here's today's email to Amazon.com:

[rant]
Please also see this order for the same product and the same problem:
102-5818326-6574548

I am following up with what is now my fourth email concerning these orders. Here is the response that I got from Amazon.com customer service from my previous email:

**********
(November 22, 2002)

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I’ve checked into your order and see that your items are on hand and
ready to ship. I apologize for the unexpected delay.

Rest assured, your shipment should still arrive by the delivery date
estimated in Your Account: 12/04/2002. We will send you an e-mail at

your shipment.

order.

*****************

If the items were on hand and ready to ship on 11/22, why have they not yet shipped?

Also, why does my order place on 10/29 STILL show a "Delivery Estimate" of November 12-15? It is now November 26, and I don't have my products.

Meanwhile, Amazon.com continues to irresponsibly take new orders on these products despite the current inability to handle existing orders.

This is very discouraging -- and damaging to the good reputation of Amazon.com.

this is actually uncharacteristic of amazon.

Then again, I know that there might be sourced from a non-amazon company. The said company might be the problem and not amazon. Trust me, I KNOW this can happen (if you want details, I can email whoever, I don't feel comfortable saying it 'publicly')

I ordered mine, received a shipping date, no problems, OK, good, date arrived, YOUR ORDER IS CANCELLED. Emailed to reinstate. TOUGH. YOU RECEIVED AN EMAIL AND THAT IS IT. <--- in so many words.

My order at $50, that was supposed to ship November 22-25, has just been delayed to December 10-17. The $40 order is now ahead at December 3-10. It's like watching a slow moving game of leap frog. Hopefully the $40 order ships first, then I may just cancel the $50 order.

In three orders, progressively going from $60 to $40, all I have received is 6 FREE glasses. Guess I can't complain about the price of those though.

uh oh! Those glasses that were on hand and going to ship on 11/22? You didn't really think it was going to be that easy, did you?

Here's their response to my most recent inquiry.

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

Sometimes, unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our
original availability estimate. We have learned that "Spiegelau
Collection Burgundy Wine Glasses, Set of 6" and "Spiegelau Collection
Bordeaux Wine Glasses, Set of 6" are now back-ordered, and our
supplier has not been able to let us know exactly when they expect to
have more in stock. I apologize that you were not notified sooner of
this change in availability.

To help compensate you for this unexpected change, I have upgraded
the method of shipment for this order to Standard Domestic. There is
of
course no additional charge for this.

We will keep this item on order and ship it to you as soon as we are
able to obtain it. We will not charge you for it until we ship it
to you. On the date of shipment, we'll send you e-mail confirming
the date, contents, and method of your shipment.

However, as this was not what you expected when you placed your
order, we would understand if you'd prefer to cancel it. You may
cancel unshipped items through the "Your Account" link at the top
right of our home page by clicking the link that says "Cancel items
or orders." After signing in with your e-mail address and password,
you will be able to view your order history and cancel your order
for any item that has not yet entered the shipping process.

Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com.

stemor, lucky you. They gave you the option to bow out gracefully. They told me to just stuff it.

I thought that was awful generous of them to offer to let me cancel.

Just to be ornery, I'm thinking of placing still MORE orders, just so I have something to badger them about. I mean, how much more irresponsible could they be? They're STILL offering this freakin' deal, knowing full well that they can't possibly fulfill the orders that they already have.

I can only imagine what MY customers would do to me if my company behaved this way. There would be team drivers and express haulage galore -- not to mention a good helping of butt-kissing.

From Amazon all I get is "sorry. We understand if you want to cancel?!?"
Cheers, y'all
